Fire TV Stick connects your HDTV to a world of online entertainment. With a huge selection of movies and TV episodes, voice search that actually works, and exclusive features like ASAP and Prime Music, Fire TV Stick is an easy way to enjoy Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu, HBO NOW, low-cost movie rentals, live and on-demand sports, music, photos, games, and more.
I was a born again chromecast user for the last year or so, so when someone recommended that I pick up a Fire TV Stick I wasn’t all to keen on the idea. I can now say I’ve been humbled. The original image I conjured up when I thought about the Fire TV was one that paled in comparison to the chromecast. I mean, what else could I want? The answer to that was “A Whole Lot More”!
My first impression of the Fire Stick was of it’s design, it’s small and sleek and the remote is just as small and sleek and surprisingly useful. The overall design isn’t going to win it any rewards however it’s simple and functional.
Once booted up the Fire TV runs smoothly and is easy to use and simple to setup. The user interface is sleek and fairly minimal which is something I wasn’t really expecting from Amazon but they did a good job, kudos Amazon! The Fire TV is capable of downloading and installing apps, which I was surprised about and originally thought I would have no need for but once again I was humbled. The apps available are basic but useful. Everything from Netflix to your favorite music streaming app can be found along side all of what Amazon Prime has to offer.
The once feature which I thought I would use a lot and thought was one of the coolest was the voice remote. Now this has been something that I’ve actually used the least. There’s never been a real time that I’ve found it useful to use the voice remote. In addition the voice features seem to be lacking a bit and taking into account any errors in it’s voice recognition it’s just not that incredible of a feature. Neat, but not really game changing.
I’ve been using the Amazon Fire TV Stick for about 2 months now and since have purchased 2 more and have all together stopped using my Chromecasts. Sorry Google, you had me for a while but Amazon wins this one! More features, simple design, sleek interface and all in all great device I highly recommend picking one up!
The Fire Stick is a Home run and Amazon did a great job, I use the Fire TV Stick everyday and have one on every one of my TVs. Definitely worth $49! I totally recommend Buying one if not two or three!
